Wholesale Application troubleUpdated 25 days ago

Are you having trouble submitting the Wholesale Application?

I don't have a website for my business:

If you do not have a website or social media account for your business, you can enter how your customers find you or how we can verify your business in the box provided. You should be able to submit the form as long as there is information in the field.

I don't have a TaxID or EIN:

If you are still in the process of acquiring a TaxID or EIN, you can enter that information in the field. "Not received yet" or "in process" are acceptable answers.

Any business applying for a wholesale account should be operating according to all applicable laws.

Not all businesses are required to have a federal tax ID number (also known as an Employer Identification Number, or EIN). Some sole proprietors and single-member LLCs without employees can operate using the owner's Social Security Number (SSN) as their tax ID. However, an EIN is necessary for most other business structures.

Businesses that typically need an EIN or TaxID:

You are required to obtain an EIN if your business is structured as one of the following:
  • A partnership: All businesses with multiple owners must have an EIN.
  • A corporation: This includes LLCs that have elected to be taxed as a corporation.
  • A multi-member LLC: All LLCs with more than one owner must have an EIN.
  • Any business with employees: An EIN is necessary to process payroll, withhold taxes, and issue W-2 forms.
  • Specialized entities: This includes non-profit organizations, estates, trusts, real estate mortgage investment conduits, and farmers' cooperatives.
  • Businesses that file certain tax returns: You need an EIN if you file employment, excise, or alcohol, tobacco, and firearms tax returns.
When a sole proprietor can use an SSN:

If you are a sole proprietor using an SSN, do not enter your SSN in the TaxID field. You may say "I use SSN for business" in that field.

A sole proprietor who is the only owner and has no employees can use their SSN as their tax ID for federal purposes. However, certain situations will require a sole proprietor to get an EIN.

Misrepresenting your business's tax-exempt status to gain a wholesale account is a form of tax fraud and can lead to severe civil and criminal penalties. Both the business and the individual responsible can face significant fines, interest on unpaid taxes, and potentially even prison time.
